July - 2010
We are open for the season; the earliest ever by two weeks! The heat has accelerated the ripening process all over the farm.
The "patch" is loaded with gorgeous, ripe, sweet blues; the branches are bent over and need your help as far as relieving them of their heft. They will be ever so grateful and so will we.
So, don't miss out on a great opportunity for fresh eating and they are so easy to freeze for later use; just pick (no need to wash), pack dry berries into freezer bags (no need to freeze on a cookie sheet)
and put into your freezer! That's it!
Imagine blueberry muffins, pie, cobbler or what-have-you, fresh out of the oven this winter, the wonderful scent of blueberries and spices wafting through the house and memories of summer and friends and
family in your mind's eye.
Come pick in a lovely setting with the mountain view, surrounded by birdsong and friends chatting. We have extended our picking hours to include time for those who can come after 5 or like the cooler (relatively), quieter early evening.
We do ask that you not talk on your cell phone while you are in the blueberry patch. If you must, the parking area is fine. As always, supervised children are welcome, a wonderful way for you to help them begin developing happy memories. No pets please.
Hours from 8am-7pm, Thursday-Sunday. We may be open extra days due to abundance of blues. It's not a bad idea to call ahead, 603-863-2583
(we are also on face book).
Please call before 9pm as our phone is a land line and we answer when we are in the house.
Your calls are not automatically routed to a "blueberry" line, so, when the phone rings at 11:30 PM.
Bill and I and our family look forward to seeing you in the patch.
Happy picking! |
